Singer/songwriter Bruce Guthro has passed away at the age of 62.

Born on Cape Breton Island on August 31st, 1961, Guthro was well-known on the East Coast and throughout Canada. Guthro was not only a successful solo act, but also fronted the highly popular Scottish band Runrig for 20 years. Guthro has nine ECMA Awards, Solo Artist of the Year at the 1998 Canadian Radio Music Awards and Rising Star of the Year at the 1998 Canadian Country Music Awards.

Bruce Guthro also hosted and conceptualized the TV Show Songwriters Circle.
