Born and raised in Sydney, Cape Breton, Donna Marilyn MacDonald‘s family home was filled with music, ranging from the classical works of Wagner to the soundtrack of South Pacific to the Beatles and everything in between.

Donna Marilyn is a natural entertainer. An accomplished vocalist with roots in church choirs dating back to childhood, in 2001 she joined local dance band, The Aviators as lead singer and percussionist. For over 20 years, she immensely enjoyed performing as a Marilyn Monroe impersonator at many events. She has also lent her talent and energy to countless local, national and international events, including as Emcee and performing national anthems.

Donna Marilyn joined the Seaside FM family in 2001 when she was invited to provide the voice for a commercial. This was not Donna Marilyn‘s first foray into radio – she spent her career as an emergency communicator in the HRM retiring in 2015 after 31 years of service. Her voice work for Seaside lead to covering news sports and weather on the iconic Rolling Home Show with (SEASIDE-FM) founder Wayne Harrett. In March 2019 she launched her weekly program ‘Music and Musings with Donna Marilyn‘ heard every Wednesday evening from 6:05 to 8 PM. You can enjoy an exceptional selection of music paired with the stories and artists behind the songs. Donna Marilyn has had the pleasure of interviewing great Canadian musicians, including Myles Goodwyn of April Wine, Sam Moon, Valdy, Kim Berly of The Stampeders, Ken Tobias, Dave Carroll, Charlie A’Court and Russ Brannon, to name a few. It is also been a true privilege for Donna Marilyn to host the Seaside FM Travel Group. Commencing Thursday, April 13 at 9:30 AM.
