Colchester County District RCMP has charged three people with drug and firearms offences after a search warrant was executed at a home on Hwy. 311 in North River. 

On January 24, Colchester County District RCMP officers located a stolen tow truck at a home on Hwy. 311. The tow truck was reported stolen from Waverley. While attending the home, officers observed a man attempting to remove the licence plate on the tow truck, as well as other men leaving and entering the residence. Officers immediately arrested a 39-year-old Millbrook man.

With assistance from RCMP Police Dog Services, officers located three men, two women and an infant inside the home. Two of the men had outstanding warrants for their arrest. Officers also located numerous unsecured firearms. Nova Scotia Child Protection Services has been engaged. 

Later that day, a search warrant was executed at the home. Officers recovered numerous items believed to be stolen, including, ATVs, a motorcycle, tires/rims, a generator, beauty products, power tools, furniture and electronics, as well as, cocaine and prescription drugs, scales, cash, cell phones, and other drug paraphernalia. 

Shane Chapman, 39, from Millbrook, Nathan Dean, 23, from Bible Hill and Chad Moore-Turner, 32, from North River have all been charged with:

  • Trafficking in Substance;
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • Careless Use of Firearm (two counts);
  • Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (five counts);
  • Possession of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition (two counts);
  • Contravention of Storage Regulations.

Additionally, Shane Chapman was charged with Possession of a Firearm Contrary to an Order.

Chapman was released on conditions and will be back in Truro Provincial Court on February 28, 2024 at 9:30 a.m.

Dean appeared today in Truro Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. and Moore-Turner will also be appearing today in Truro Provincial Court at 1:30 p.m.

The investigation is still ongoing.
