Hailing from Toronto, Charles hosts Evening Solitude on 105.9 Seaside FM. Since 1988, Charles has been host and contributor to various radio programs throughout Canada including Radio Markham, Spirit One Radio, CJRT-FM 91.1, Jazz.FM91, CKDU-FM 88.1, VoicePrint Canada, and Accessible Media Inc.

Currently, Charles works in the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. In his spare time, he volunteers in various organizations including: The TD Halifax Jazz Festival; Scotia Music Festival; DaPoPo Theatre; and FACTOR Canada.

Charles is also an avid film, television, music archivist and historian contributing to various publications. In 2022, Charles was a recipient of the Community Radio Award in Broadcast and Online by the National Community Radio Association.
