Rod Little was born and raised in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. He currently lives in Eastern Passage; just minutes from our station.
Rod began at Seaside in February 2022 and is a regular on the Wednesday and Friday Matinee Show. Rod retired in 2014 as an Army Major from the Canadian Armed Forces after a 30-year career. While serving in Germany from 1988 to 1992, he was a regular volunteer broadcaster with the Canadian Forces Network which is where he got his start as a DJ on community radio. Rod has lived 15 years total outside of Canada including Germany, Egypt, Kenya, The Philippines, and Guatemala. He served a 6-month tour in Croatia with the Army. Rod has many hobbies and interests with Scuba Diving being at the top, followed closely with travelling the world, driving motorcycles, singing and playing guitar with his band “The Tide”, hockey, hiking, riding bicycles, going to the gym, golfing and photography/videography.
Rod and his wife, Yvette, had their 35th anniversary in May 2023 and have three wonderful children; Amanda who is a graphic designer for the Navy, Bryan who is an engineer for a tech company in Vienna and Sara who is an Officer with the Army currently based in Ottawa. They have three fantastic grandchildren who live near them and are a big part of their lives. Rod sings and plays guitar for Explore Church in Eastern Passage. He speaks English, French, Arabic and Spanish. An interesting fact about Rod is that, as of summer 2023, he has travelled to 52 countries and hopes to get to 100 someday.
Rod’s favorite place in Nova Scotia is the hiking area in Duncan’s Cove.
