Gail Rice started in radio as a sports reporter at CHNS radio in 1973. While there she became the Nova Scotia Vees (Montreal Canadiens farm-team), reporter and also covered many National and International events, such as the Brier, Canadian Figure Skating championships and the Canada Cup of Hockey in 1976.
After 6 years, she moved to CFDR radio, where she became the first female radio sports director in Canada.She then moved into programming and was named the Program and Music Director of the station. She also hosted the mid-day show.
After 9 years at CFDR she moved on to MITV (now Global), where she did sports and became the Producer/Host of an interview show called Maritimes Today.
Gail has written for many weekly publications…and has been with Seaside-FM for 22 years. She coached high school girl’s basketball for 33 years, was the Athletic Director at Mount St. Vincent University for 5 years…coaching their volleyball and basketball teams, and is an honoured member of the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame.
