Blain Henshaw has been a volunteer at Seaside-FM since July 2013, but his voice has been heard on the station through his music and in interviews with Paul Kennedy and Frank Cameron since the release of his first CD in the fall of 2011. An award winning radio and television journalist, Blain spent over 20 years in broadcasting before going to work for 20 years as a senior communications advisor to the Nova Scotia government. He is also the author of four books: All Hands Lost, Rescue at Moose River: Birthplace of on-the-spot reporting, The Peddlers, and Madam of the Maritimes, The Life and Times of Ada McCallum.

Blain has been writing songs and performing since he was a child, releasing his first record (a vinyl 45 rpm disc!) in 1975. Currently, he has three CDs to his credit and maintains a busy schedule performing in concerts, festivals and shows around the province and in Ontario.

With 20 years experience as a working journalist, Blain is a volunteer news advisor at Seaside and enjoys working with students in the newsroom.

He is the proud dad of two adult children, Kimberley and Christopher. In September 2017, he was inducted as a member of the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame.
